Wake Up to a Stunning View at Loop Head Lighthouse

(7:00am – 8:30am)

Begin your day in the newly renovated Loop Head Lighthouse Attendant’s Cottage. As you gaze out onto the wild Atlantic waves, fuel up for the day’s adventures with a hearty breakfast. Afterwards, take a stroll around the picturesque environs, soaking in the tranquil atmosphere of this remote location before hopping in the car and heading down to Kilrush.

Set Sail to Scattery Island

(8:30am – 12:30pm)

The next leg of your Western Loop adventure begins when you set sail from Kilrush Marina for Scattery Island, one of West Clare’s hidden gems. Board a ferry with Scattery Island Tours and traverse the glistening waters towards this mystical isle. Immerse yourself in the island’s allure, from historical ruins to breathtaking vistas, as your guide provides you with the rich history of the island. After the tour, return to Kilrush and head over to the nearby Vandeleur Walled Garden for a bite to eat.

(1:15pm – 3:00pm)

Relax and refuel amongst the botanical splendour of Vandeleur Walled Garden, a sanctuary of tranquillity nestled in the heart of Kilrush Wood. Here, you will enjoy a delicious lunch on lawns, surrounded by the fragrance of blooming flowers. After you eat, you’ll be treated to a guided tour where you will learn about the garden’s rich history as well as the flora and fauna that call Vandeleur Walled Garden home.

Marvel at the Majestic Cliffs of Moher

(4:00pm – 6:00pm)

After leaving the tranquil lawns of the Vandeleur Walled Garden, prepare to be awe-struck as you arrive at the majestic Cliffs of Moher Experience. Explore the visitor centre and learn about the delicate ecosystem surrounding the cliffs. As you traverse the cliff paths, be mesmerised by panoramic views that stretch across the horizon. After working up an appetite hiking along the rugged trails, head out to Carrigaholt for dinner at the Long Dock.

(7:00pm – 8:30pm)

Hop in the car and drive back down the coast towards the traditional fishing village of Carrigaholt. Delight your palate at the award-winning Long Dock with the freshest local fare, sourced directly from the nearby bay by the skilled hands of the local fishermen and Sealyons Seafood. Return to Loop Head Lighthouse Attendant’s Cottage

(9:00pm – Onward)

As the sun dips below the horizon, return to Loop Head Lighthouse Attendant’s Cottage, your sanctuary by the sea. Share tales of your day’s adventures over a cup of tea or a glass of wine, savouring each moment as the day comes to a close. Take a leisurely evening stroll around the environs, where the cliffs meet the sea, and bask in the splendour of a sunset painting the sky in hues of crimson and gold.
